How Much Does an Exhibition Stand Cost in 2026? Real Price Lists, Explained

•By Exhibition Stand Pro Team

Short answer: At major international fairs in 2026, bare floor space alone costs €143–€535 per m² in European organisers’ price lists (most large fairs around €300) and about $517–$570 per m² at CES in Las Vegas, before a single wall is built. On top come mandatory fees (media or registration packages of about €750–€1,150 in the organisers’ own price lists), venue services (a 3 kW power connection is €188–€199 in Frankfurt and Hannover), and the stand construction itself, which in German fairs accounts for the largest single share of exhibitor spending (30.3% for stand construction and services, per an ifo Institute study for AUMA).

Updated 26 September 2026. All prices are the organisers’ published figures, net of VAT. Check your own fair’s current price list before budgeting.

The four parts of every exhibition stand budget

  1. Space rent, charged per m² by the organiser. Island and corner stands cost more than row stands.
  2. Mandatory fees, meaning the organiser’s media, registration or communication package, plus per-m² levies such as the AUMA contribution in Germany or waste and environmental fees.
  3. Venue services, such as electricity, water, rigging points, cleaning and internet. At most venues you must order these from the venue or its official contractor.
  4. Stand design, construction, transport and installation, which is the part your stand builder quotes and the part you can influence most.

1. Space rent: official 2026–2028 prices per m²

Fair (venue) Edition Row stand (1 side open) Island (4 sides open)
MEDICA (Düsseldorf) 2026 €304 (corner €317, end-of-block €327) €336
EuroShop (Düsseldorf) 2026 €296 €326

electronica (Munich) 2026 €299 €359
EuroTier (Hannover) 2026 €194 €236
IAA Transportation (Hannover) 2026 €143 €200.20
ILA Berlin 2026 €410 €475
ISE (Fira Barcelona) 2027 €465–€535 per m² by stand type and membership (space only)
Intertraffic (RAI Amsterdam) 2028 €400–€430
GreenTech (RAI Amsterdam) 2027 €250–€272
CES (Las Vegas) 2027 $48/sq ft members, $53 non-members (about $517–$570/m²)
Automechanika Dubai (Dubai Exhibition Centre) 2026 $310/m² space only, minimum 18 m²

Several large shows, including Hannover Messe, MWC Barcelona, Gulfood, WHX Dubai (formerly Arab Health) and GITEX, do not publish a public rate card. Their space is quoted on request.

2. Mandatory fees you cannot skip

Fair Package fee Per-m² levies
MEDICA 2026 Media fee €995 AUMA €0.60, waste €2.70; first-time exhibitors also pay a €25/m² prepayment
EuroShop 2026 Media fee €829 AUMA €0.60
Light + Building 2026 Media package €985 AUMA €0.60, environmental €4.40
bauma 2028 Communication fee €990 + application €410 Marketing €15, AUMA €0.60, waste €9
electronica 2026 Package €1,150 AUMA €0.60, service advance €20, disposal €8

EuroTier 2026 Media €851 + registration €592 AUMA €0.60
Intertraffic 2028 Registration €545
Automechanika Dubai 2026 Digital package $500

3. Venue services: what the power socket really costs

These are the German venue operators’ own 2026 price lists:

Service Deutsche Messe (Hannover), valid from 1 Mar 2026 Messe Frankfurt, “Preise 2026”
Power connection up to 3 kW €199, consumption included €188, consumption charged separately
Water connection €399 €485
Rigging / suspension point €149 per point (up to 50 kg) from €213 (heavy load, 300–500 kg)
Stand cleaning from €7.50/m² (€6.00 from 300 m²) €37.50 per hour
Wi-Fi Basic package (up to 5 devices) – price on list €252 (Premium, 5 devices)

Most venues reserve mains power and rigging for their own staff or an appointed contractor. Your stand builder designs around these connections but cannot install them. Our country guides list the rules venue by venue: see, for example, Netherlands, Sweden and Belgium.

4. Stand construction: the biggest and most variable line

In the ifo Institute’s study of German trade fairs for AUMA, the umbrella association of the German trade fair industry, exhibitors’ spending split as follows:

  • Stand construction and services: 30.3%
  • Stand rent and operation: 21.2%
  • Personnel: 15.6%
  • Accommodation and catering: 13.5%

The US CEIR analysis “How the Exhibit Dollar Is Spent” (2012) shows a similar picture: space 36%, show services 17%, travel 14%, exhibit design 11%, shipping 10%.

Construction cost depends on factors a price per m² hides:

  • System vs. custom build: Modular aluminium frames are reusable. Custom timber builds with lacquered or printed finishes are made new for each show.
  • Height and structure: A second level, overhead rigging or walls above the venue’s standard height all need extra engineering and approvals. At Stockholmsmässan, for example, a two-storey stand needs a written application four weeks ahead, and its upper deck may cover at most 50% of the footprint.
  • Materials and fire class: Every venue requires certified fire-retardant materials. RAI Amsterdam, for example, requires fire class 1 or 2 under NEN 6065.
  • Transport distance and customs: From our Istanbul workshop, stands for EU fairs travel under the EU–Türkiye customs union with an A.TR certificate.
  • Reuse: If you exhibit several times a year, a stand designed for storage and re-installation spreads the build cost over several shows.

Worked example: a 36 m² island stand at MEDICA 2026

Organiser costs only, from the official price list:

Item Calculation Amount
Space rent, island 36 m² × €336 €12,096.00
Media fee flat €995.00
AUMA contribution 36 m² × €0.60 €21.60
Waste fee 36 m² × €2.70 €97.20
Subtotal before stand, services and travel €13,209.80

The stand construction, venue services, transport, installation and your team’s travel come on top of this.

How to get an accurate stand quote

Send your stand builder the following:

  1. The fair name, hall and stand number, and the floor plan showing open sides.
  2. The stand size, and whether you need meeting rooms, storage, a kitchen or a second level.
  3. The exhibits: their weight, dimensions, and power and water needs.
  4. Your brand assets and any previous stand you want to reuse.
  5. The organiser’s exhibitor manual, which gives the drawing deadline, height limit and approved contractors.

VAV Grup designs and builds custom stands in Istanbul and installs them at fairs across Europe and the Middle East. Request a project-specific quotation.
