Short answer: Türkiye's main fair venues are Istanbul Expo Center (İFM), Tüyap in Büyükçekmece, fuarizmir and ATO Congresium in Ankara. Stand rules are published per venue and per fair – Tüyap's exhibitor handbook requires chartered civil engineer (SİM) approval for single-storey stands over 4.5 m and for all two-storey stands, while at İFM each fair organiser sets its own height limits and project deadlines. Venue rules that shape your stand design in Türkiye

Custom stands fail approval most often on height, fire class of materials, rigging and electrics. These are the rules the venues publish:

Tüyap Istanbul Fair and Congress Center

• Stands up to 4.5 m high are approved by an architect or interior architect; single-storey stands over 4.5 m, all two-storey stands and complex structures identified as a risk must be approved by a chartered civil engineer (SİM – serbest inşaat mühendisi).
• Exhibitors must upload the stand's architectural project to the MyTüyap portal in line with the fair's timetable.
• Hanging or attaching stand parts or lighting to the hall ceiling or roof structure is prohibited; fixing materials by drilling the floor or walls is prohibited; gypsum-derived and cement-derived boards and thinner-based paints are not allowed in the halls.

Istanbul Expo Center (İFM) – organiser rules, not venue-wide: Istanbul Hardware Fair 2026 technical conditions

• Approved custom-stand projects up to 4 m (two-storey stands 4.5 m); stands without an approved project up to 2.5 m; up to 5 m in the foyer.
• Projects must be submitted at least 15 days before the fair (31 October 2026 for the 2026 edition); two-storey stands need a static report and engineer approval.
• No painting or welding on site (except joining), flammable materials need a non-flammability certificate, and no banners or balloons may be hung from ceiling elements.

Istanbul Expo Center (İFM) – organiser rules, not venue-wide: Silmo Istanbul stand rules (2025 edition)

• Custom stands must be built to the drawings approved in writing by the organiser; the maximum construction height for custom stands is 3.80 m (4.5 m for two-storey stands with an approved static project).
• Painting, thinner use and plasterboard stand construction are prohibited in and around the fair area; nothing may be hung from the building's ceiling elements.

Rules can differ per show: the organiser's exhibitor manual for your fair always takes precedence. We read that manual before the first design sketch, not after.

Shipping a stand from Istanbul to Türkiye

Built locally in Istanbul: Stands for fairs at Istanbul Expo Center (İFM) and Tüyap are designed and built at the factory on the European side of Istanbul, so no international freight or customs clearance is needed for the stand itself. ()

Exhibits brought into Türkiye: The ICC lists the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) as the national ATA Carnet guaranteeing association for Türkiye. For exhibitors from the EU, the European Commission's Access2Markets portal says the EU–Türkiye Customs Union covers industrial products and processed agricultural products, with customs status proven by an A.TR movement certificate. Planning timeline for a custom stand in Türkiye

1. 16–12 weeks before: book space, send us the floor plan and stand number; we propose a design and budget.
2. 12–8 weeks before: final design, structural details and material list with fire certificates; check the organiser's technical rules and contractor registration.
3. Drawing deadline (set by the organiser – see the rules above): submit stand drawings and order electricity and other venue-reserved services.
4. 8–2 weeks before: production and pre-assembly in our Istanbul factory.
5. Final days: road transport within Türkiye – no international freight for the stand itself.
6. Build-up days: installation and a final check with you before opening.
7. After the show: dismantling within the organiser's dismantling window.
