Building an exhibition stand in Ireland: venues and rules
Ireland's main exhibition venues are the RDS in Ballsbridge, The Convention Centre Dublin and Citywest, all in Dublin. At the CCD stand construction must be Class 1 or Class C-s3,d2, drapes need flame-retardant certificates and the venue provides all electrical supplies; RDS shows usually name exclusive electrical and rigging contractors. VAV Grup designs and builds custom stands in Istanbul to these rules.

Venue rules that shape your stand design in Ireland
Custom stands fail approval most often on height, fire class of materials, rigging and electrics. These are the rules the venues publish:
The Convention Centre Dublin
- Stand construction must be Class 1 or Class C-s3,d2.
- Flame-retardant certificates required for drapes.
- The CCD provides all electrical supplies.
- Organisers submit final layout plans 6 weeks before tenancy; rigging requires a submission and method statement.

RDS (example from a 2026 show manual)
- General height limit 2.5 m; space-only stands up to 4 m with approved plans, due one month before the show.
- Display materials fire-proofed to the satisfaction of the fire authorities.
- Electrical and rigging work through the exclusive contractors named in the show manual.

Rules can differ per show: the organiser's exhibitor manual for your fair always takes precedence. We read that manual before the first design sketch, not after.
Shipping a stand from Istanbul to Ireland
Customs framework: Türkiye and the EU have been in a customs union for industrial goods since 31 December 1995 (Decision 1/95). Stand materials made in Istanbul therefore move into Ireland without customs duty when they travel with an A.TR movement certificate. Since 8 July 2024 EU member states accept A.TR certificates issued electronically with a QR code. (European Commission – EU–Türkiye trade; European Commission – electronic A.TR (2024))
Exhibits that go back home: Products you display and take back to Türkiye can travel on an ATA Carnet (temporary admission for goods at fairs and exhibitions). Consumables and stand parts that stay or are used up on site cannot go on a carnet; they are declared separately. We confirm the right document set with the customs broker for each shipment. (TOBB – ATA Carnet FAQ; EU Access2Markets – ATA Carnet)
Planning timeline for a custom stand in Ireland
- 16–12 weeks before: book space, send us the floor plan and stand number; we propose a design and budget.
- 12–8 weeks before: final design, structural details for double-deck or rigged elements, material list with fire certificates.
- Drawing deadline (set by the venue/organiser – see the rules above): submit stand drawings for approval; order electricity, rigging and other venue-reserved services.
- 4–2 weeks before: production and pre-assembly in our Istanbul factory, then road or sea freight with the customs documents.
- Build-up days: installation, electrical connection by the venue's contractor, final check with you before opening.
- After the show: dismantling, return shipment or storage of reusable parts.
How VAV Grup delivers stands here
We are an independent stand contractor, not an official venue supplier. Your stand is designed and manufactured in Europe – in our factory on the European side of Istanbul – and shipped to Ireland; on site, installation is coordinated with the services the venue reserves for itself (mains electricity, rigging, sometimes floor plans). One project lead keeps the drawings, material certificates, transport and build-up schedule in one plan. Send the fair name, hall and stand number, stand size and deadline and we reply with a project-specific scope and quotation.
Facts on this page were checked against the official venue, organiser and government sources linked above on 26 September 2026. Figures are the venues' own; we do not claim past projects at every venue listed.
