Short answer: Malaysia's main exhibition venues are MITEC and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). MITEC needs detailed stand plans 30 days before build-up and holds exclusive truss and hoist rights; KLCC allows 6 m builds in Halls 1, 2, 4 and 5, is the exclusive rigging provider and needs a structural engineer's letter for double-deck stands. Venue rules that shape your stand design in Malaysia

Custom stands fail approval most often on height, fire class of materials, rigging and electrics. These are the rules the venues publish:

MITEC, Kuala Lumpur

• MITEC holds exclusive truss and hoist rights for all events.
• Detailed plans at least 30 days before build-up; final floor plan approval no later than 14 days before the event.
• Height limited to 3 m in Hall 1, Hall 5, Ballroom and Gallery.
• Main power installations only by an accredited electrician able to issue a Certificate of Compliance.
• Fire-retardant certificate for fabrics; polystyrene prohibited unless treated and certified.

Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre

• Maximum build height 6 m in Halls 1, 2, 4 and 5.
• Double-deck stands: scale drawings with 3D design and written confirmation from a structural engineer.
• All decorations, drapes and fabric walls flame-retardant.
• The Centre is the exclusive provider of rigging; trusses and motor hoists must be supplied by the Centre.

Shipping a stand from Istanbul to Malaysia

ATA Carnet in Malaysia: The Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) is appointed by Royal Malaysian Customs as the guaranteeing agency for ATA Carnets, which cover goods for display or use at events, fairs and exhibitions. Planning timeline for a custom stand in Malaysia

1. 20–16 weeks before: book space, send us the floor plan and stand number; we propose a design and budget.
2. 16–12 weeks before: final design, structural details, material list with fire certificates; register the contractor with the organiser or venue as the show manual requires.
3. Drawing deadline (set by the venue/organiser – see the rules above): submit stand drawings; order electricity, rigging and other venue-reserved services through the appointed contractors.
4. 12–10 weeks before: production and pre-assembly in our Istanbul factory.
5. 10–4 weeks before: sea or air freight with the customs documents (sea freight to East Asia typically takes several weeks, so the shipping date is fixed first).
6. Build-up days: installation with the venue-appointed electrical partner, final check before opening.
7. After the show: dismantling and return shipment or local disposal of consumables.
