Local Exhibition Market Intelligence
Norway's big international fairs are sector giants: ONS (energy) in Stavanger, Nor-Shipping (maritime) at NOVA Spektrum, and Aqua Nor / Nor-Fishing in Trondheim. NOVA Spektrum's standard height is 2.5 m, and taller stands need approval five weeks ahead. Norway is outside the EU customs union, so stand shipments from Türkiye move under the EFTA–Türkiye FTA and, for exhibits, an ATA Carnet.

Venue rules that shape your stand design in Norway
Custom stands fail approval most often on height, fire class of materials, rigging and electrics. These are the rules the venues publish:
NOVA Spektrum, Lillestrøm
- Maximum construction and decoration height 2.5 m; higher only with written approval of the technical coordinator (plans, material specs, neighbour consent) 5 weeks before the event.
- Island sites: a layout sketch must be approved before construction starts.
- Fabrics must meet DIN 4102 B1; straw, polystyrene, paper and cardboard are banned without permission; every exhibitor signs a fire declaration.
- Electrical work by an authorised contractor licensed in Norway; suspended loads only by the venue's approved contractor.
- Double-deck: written application, calculations by a RIF-approved consultancy, sprinklers under the upper deck.

Rules can differ per show: the organiser's exhibitor manual for your fair always takes precedence. We read that manual before the first design sketch, not after.
Shipping a stand from Istanbul to Norway
Customs framework: Norway is not in the EU customs union. Trade with Türkiye runs under the EFTA–Türkiye free trade agreement (in force 1992, modernised 2021), which removes duties on industrial products of EFTA or Turkish origin. (EFTA – Türkiye FTA)
ATA Carnet in Norway: Norwegian Customs lists goods for fairs and exhibitions – explicitly including "materials for stands" – as covered by an ATA Carnet. The carnet must be processed by Norwegian Customs on arrival and on departure. Consumables still need a separate declaration. (Norwegian Customs – ATA Carnet)
Planning timeline for a custom stand in Norway
- 16–12 weeks before: book space, send us the floor plan and stand number; we propose a design and budget.
- 12–8 weeks before: final design, structural details for double-deck or rigged elements, material list with fire certificates.
- Drawing deadline (set by the venue/organiser – see the rules above): submit stand drawings for approval; order electricity, rigging and other venue-reserved services.
- 4–2 weeks before: production and pre-assembly in our Istanbul factory, then road or sea freight with the customs documents.
- Build-up days: installation, electrical connection by the venue's contractor, final check with you before opening.
- After the show: dismantling, return shipment or storage of reusable parts.
How VAV Grup delivers stands here
We are an independent stand contractor, not an official venue supplier. Your stand is designed and manufactured in Europe – in our factory on the European side of Istanbul – and shipped to Norway; on site, installation is coordinated with the services the venue reserves for itself (mains electricity, rigging, sometimes floor plans). One project lead keeps the drawings, material certificates, transport and build-up schedule in one plan. Send the fair name, hall and stand number, stand size and deadline and we reply with a project-specific scope and quotation.
Facts on this page were checked against the official venue, organiser and government sources linked above on 26 September 2026. Figures are the venues' own; we do not claim past projects at every venue listed.
